Gongmyeong is a Korea fusion gugak group formed by young musicians who graduated from the Department of Korean Traditional Music at the Chugye University for the Arts in 1997. The group is comprised of four male members – Park Seung-won, Gang Seon-il, Song Gyeong-geun, and Im Yong-ju.
The term “gongmyeong” is a Sino-Korean word that means “resonance.” It also refers to a musical instrument made from bamboo cut into various lengths, ranging from 30 centimeters to 1 meter. Melodies and rhythms are made by rapping on them.
